In todays world more and more people are experiencing life struggles when it comes to family. These issues can range from problems in a marriage, how to deal with your children issues and understand yourself and how to deal with your family and certain issues. The area of marriage and family counseling/therapy has had an out break over the past decade. The counselors are expected to work effectively with families experiencing a variety of issues and problems. In marriage and family therapy/counseling there are so many different types of techniques that are out there but should be used and looked upon not a cure, but a method to help mobilize the family. Choosing this model wasnt hard for me because of the love I have my family†¦show more content†¦I enjoyed on the one of the episodes of the Cosbys they all did role playing. Everyones name was put in a hat and each member pulls a name and the name that they pull they would act like this person. I believe this is effec tive because many times people act a certain way but until they see it or told about this behavior they unconscious that they act like that. Given couples and families a questionnaire based upon what they believe is the problem and how they feel the problem should be handled and compare each members. There are various techniques which are used in marriage and family therapy. The humanistic therapy is used in marriage counseling to help couples communicate their feelings better with each other. Through this therapy, exercises are used in the sessions which help couples learn the effects of communication and emotional honesty. This type of therapy is client-centered and widely used in marriage therapy, (Gale Encyclopedia, 2009). Family contracts are therapy tool used to treat the family as whole and become part of the solution. Effective family therapy treats the family as a whole and acknowledges that what affects one member affects the whole family, (Long, 2009When it comes to mar riage and family therapy there are so many problems that can be addressed.
